Chatelard is the starting point of the “Parc d’Attraction” – and the former working railway from 1919 holds the world record as far as steep climbs are concerned (87 percent ascent) in the realm of two-carriage funicular railways.
The solely 60 centimeter-wide small train to follow appears a toy in comparison. And the so-called Minifunic railway to the crowning dam is a mix between funicular rail and a lift. Up here views over Trient and the Mont-Blanc region are truly impressive – and the return journey on the same line to Le Chatelard, or by bus from Lac d’Emosson to Finhaut offers more scenic enjoyment.
